Lancaster’s Southern Market is home to great tasting local food and beverage
Downtown Lancaster is home to many food options among all the activities to do. One of those food options is Lancaster’s Southern Market. Southern Market is located on 100 S Queen St, Lancaster PA in Downtown Lancaster and is near Queen Street Bistro and The Exchange Lancaster.
Background of Southern Market
For nearly 40 years, Lancaster’s Southern Market was an office space for agencies in the city and its future was left up to imagination. In early 2022, it began its new exciting chapter as the new Southern Market. Completely revitalized, it has officially gone back to being a public space in Downtown Lancaster. The first floor hall, where all the food is located, encompasses a total of 7,500 square feet with seating that can fit 250 patrons. In the middle of the floor is Bar 1888, a 30 seat bar operated by the Willow Valley Communities, with award winning mixologists at the helm of the bar.
Willow Valley Communities- who are one of the region’s largest employers, community developers, and Operators- have been tasked to oversee the market’s operations. Southern Market has become a catalyst for community connection, economic growth and urban revitalization; they have done this through a strategic partnership with local nonprofit Lancaster equity.
